Shirehampton (11) v Fry Club Colts (1)
05/02/06
The pitch for this game was very bumpy and uneven and the goal posts
seemed a bit on the short side.
6 minutes in and Fry's counter attack a goal chance by Shire and Dan
Buley sees his shot saved and pushed just wide.
Jack Baber (who started the game in goal for
the sick Tom Rose) is showing his strength with some good saves. The match has
started as a fast end to end game.
20 minutes in and Shire score a great goal. Ball not
cleared on edge of the area and a great shot. 1 - 0.
Straight away Fry's equalise. A long pass by
Tom Hooper is picked up by Ryan Ellett with a shot
slotted past keeper 1 - 1.
Things started to go downhill in the 25th minute when Shire are awarded
a penalty, which they duly stuck away 2 - 1.
During the next 10 minutes leading up to half time Shire net a further 3
goals to go into the break 5 - 1 up.
Any thoughts of a Fry's comeback are soon scuppered
2 minutes into the new half. This seemed to open the flood gates and goals were
being banged in left, right and centre. The final whistle couldn't come soon
enough and when it eventually did Fry's were on the end of an 11 - 1 defeat.
What went wrong. Shire were
definitely the better team and played some good football but Fry's weren't so
bad as to deserve that sort of a hammering. Take the lessons learnt boys and
approach the next game with a fresh mind and get back to your winning ways.
